About the Awards

Introduction

The Excellence in Oncology Awards recognise and reward best practice in oncology management, education and patient care throughout the UK. A collaboration of the British Oncological Association (BOA) and Pfizer, the Awards are now in their fifth year.

The Awards are judged by a multidisciplinary panel of eminent national oncology healthcare professionals and representatives from cancer patient groups. The panel is chaired by Richard Sainsbury, President of the BOA and Consultant Breast Surgeon at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust.

There are eight different categories, and professionals from diverse fields within oncology (clinical practice, research, journalism and the not-for-profit / patient support sector) can enter. Judges will be looking for initiatives that are well thought-out, have a demonstrable impact on clinical practice, show innovation and contribute to best practice, ultimately benefitting people with cancer.

The 2010 Awards ceremony will take place during the NCRI Cancer Conference in Liverpool on Tuesday, 9th November 2010.
